New Alliance Launched to Drive Skills and Workforce Development in South Australia

Adelaide, SA — The South Australian Skills Alliance (SASA) is proud to announce its formation and the official launch of its new platform at www.sasa.org.au, a dedicated hub for collaboration, advocacy, and innovation in the skills training sector.

SASA is a collective voice for Registered Training Organisations (RTOs), VET professionals, and industry bodies working across South Australia. Its mission is to champion the development of a skilled workforce that meets the evolving needs of local industries and communities.

“The creation of SASA reflects a shared vision for a strong, connected, and future-focused training sector in South Australia,” said Emily Melgar, Chair of SASA. “We want to ensure that training aligns with workforce demands, supports student choice, and responds to real industry needs.”

The event will bring together key stakeholders from the vocational education and training (VET) sector, with both the Minister for Education and the Shadow Minister confirmed to attend.

“This launch is more than symbolic—it’s the start of a new chapter in collaboration across the training and skills sector,” Ms Melgar added. “We’re bringing RTOs, professionals, and peak bodies together to advocate for smarter policy, local solutions, and sector-wide innovation.”

SASA’s initial focus will include:

  • Advocating for policy settings that reflect South Australia’s workforce priorities
  • Creating opportunities for professional dialogue and collaboration
  • Elevating the role of VET in the broader education and economic landscape
  • Supporting the continuous improvement and sustainability of RTOs

SASA is governed by a volunteer Board, with ten inaugural members representing diverse training and industry perspectives who are already working to shape the organisation’s strategic agenda.
